The Heart of South Jersey (HSJ) is a grantee of the Pascale Sykes Foundation, and is an inter-agency collaboration providing the southern New Jersey community with a quality support system for whole families. We achieve this mission by assessing the needs of the family, and empowering them for long-term success through classes from our Life Skills Institute, and access to Resource Central, a hub for referrals, appropriate connections, and education.
The Pascale Sykes Foundation supports a select number of innovative, flexible, holistic, long-range programs that promote the integrity, independence and well-being of the intergenerational family unit. The Foundation focuses on programs targeting low-income families with at least one actual or potential wage earner and those involving open, voluntary enrollment.
The Foundation recognizes that families are composed of independent individuals, yet all are interdependent. Accordingly, the Foundation supports programs offering integrated services that produce gradual behavior changes in all family members as they work toward common goals. The Foundation encourages programs with volunteers, neighborhood workers, interagency cooperation and marriage strengthening.
“…promoting the integrity, independence and well-being of the intergenerational family unit.”
This is accomplished by providing access to Resource Central which includes, an up-to-date online multi-county Resource Directory, LifeSkills Institute, family need assessments providing referrals and resources. The Community Outreach Think Tank (COTT) supports the help provider community, providing resources, support and information. The Heart team brings a unique perspective, high level of expertise and a strong work ethic to provide support to the South Jersey Community.
